So I guess I started a blog, not specifically with the intention of becoming a “blogger”, but rather just documenting some of the more recent pieces I have worked on. So if I happen to be working on a interesting piece (or at least one I find interesting) I may post about it here. That is not to say that everything I put here in the future will be art related, I might just post about random other things I find interesting, even if I can just use them as reference in the future.
I expect that no one will actually read this blog, really I am just writing this in case someone has to happen along and find this page.
This blog is for me, to use an art journal. It is Heather’s Art Journal Blog.
Welcome to Heather’s Art Journal Blog.

Sooo a few months ago a good friend of mine who happens to co-host a super-secret comedy extravaganza every few months, hosted a Halloween edition. At the end there was a surprise, the gentleman that lives in the venue (the venue being a super rad, and eclectic downtown apartment) did a short scene of performance art, as “Nosfy” (think Nosferatu) teaching a cooking class, for his favourite dish. I loved it. It was so entertaining, and perfect, and hilarious. It was also visually striking. The colours, and textures and movements were just so unique… So I decided I wanted to draw it. But I did not take a photo of which to draw from, as I thought at the time it would take away from the performance. Luckily, it was being filmed and my friend sent me a few stills of the event. I had a hard time choosing a pose that I wanted to paint, there were so many that would have been fun to do. It was actually after I had my pallet ready and a pose chosen that I changed my mind and switched to the one I actually painted.
I photographed the painting in stages, so you (I) can see the progression of the piece. Acrylic on canvas 16″x 24″. I always find it so interesting to see the piece evolve, into a completed image.

If I can figure out how, I will follow your blog. Your drawing skills amaze me and I love what you do, just don’t see that much of it.
Thank you Heather!! You inspire me to do more! The Circle of Inspiration! …(cue Lion King music) The painting is a thing of beauty, you captured it all gloriously and very cool to see your process in this blog! Thank you again…blew my mind 🙂 I look forward to seeing more of your paintings!
